This Pasadena 20s Spanish home was purchased by a super cool couple who closed on it right at the beginning of Covid. We wanted to preserve the home’s beautiful architectural elements: dark stained built-ins, exposed beams, french doors, and the amazing arched fireplace. How to describe these clients? They had a Prince topper on their Christmas tree!!! They had a great attitude and a sense of humor throughout the process, and they weren’t afraid of color or long pandemic lead times. When we first walked in we knew right away we wanted to paint the dining room terra cotta. We wanted to draw your eye into the space, sort of a “what’s back there?” moment. When they could get back to entertaining the dining room would be the life of the party. We didn’t stick to any specific era or style throughout, but rather tied the spaces and pieces together with color and material.
