When our client called to say she was leaving her colorful lived-in home for a new construction project we were intrigued! The new house in Toluca Lake started with an overabundance of ornate moldings, black marble, glass, and mirrored tile that all made it stark and disingenuous. By removing a few choice elements and adding an abundance of textures and colors Hive made this house a home!

A large open floor plan is unified with a cohesive color story and subtle but impactful wallpaper with all the earthy elements speaking to one another. Hive LA Home redesigned the fireplace using handmade tile from Heath Ceramics, and closed a window to the wine cellar to make room for oak shelves. We utilized the formal dining room space as a parlor for our clients’ piano and for entertaining, relegating family meals to a sunny breakfast nook.
